Mat Kearney's Third Album, Young Love, - Review

I like a variety of music genres, and this new album by Mat Kearney is one that I do enjoy. His style and singing voice is really nice. I appreciate good music, and the first song, "Hey Mama" is a hit with me. It's one of those songs that gets stuck in my head,, and I go around my house humming the tune. I'm always in the market for new music, so this is a real treat for me. I enjoy both the upbeat and the more mellow songs that he offers.

I Love Being A BzzAgent

I get the coolest things to try out from BzzAgent, and the Cross Pen that I got to try is no exception.

I love to write things down so I was totally stoked to get into the Cross Pen BzzCampaign. I have a handful of pen-pals that I write to every month, and I was eager to share everything that I know about the Cross Pen brand with them. I sent each pal a coupon from my bzz kit, and I let them all know how much I really like my pen from the Advantage Collection. I think this is one of the best pens that I've had, and I certainly told my friends that. Plus, how they come in 15 different collections with each being unique, and how each is mechanically guaranteed for life. I can't find any flaws with my pen. I love being able to use the ballpoint to pencil converter, too. I just know my friends will love these pens. The price is good for a quality pen.  My pen is really pretty, too.

You can get 20% off regularly priced items and free standard shipping when you place your order on Cross.com. Just use code SHOPCROSS.

Disclaimer: I received a free sample and coupons from BzzAgent. My opinions are my own.

Max On Life: Answers and Inspiration for Today's Questions By Max Lucado

Max Lucado takes you to new levels of inspiration and insight in Max on Life: Answers and Inspirations for Today's Questions, his first assemblage of questions and answers. The questions featured in Max on Life represent the wide range of inquiries Max Lucado has personally received during his years as a pastor, and the answers are abounding with spiritual insights and practical truth. He answers some really good questions about several topics.

Some of the contents include:

Hope - God, Grace, and "Why am I Here?"
Hurt - Conflicts, Calamities, and "Why me?"
Help - Prayer, Scripture, and "Why church?"
Him/Her - Sex, Romance, and "Any chance of a second chance?"
Home - Diapers, Disagreements, and "Any hope for prodigals?"
Haves/Have-Nots - Work, Money, and "Where's the lifeline?"
Hereafter - Cemeteries, Heaven, Hell, and "Who goes there?"

Max Lucado has written another fine book, and one that I will read many times over. I've asked some of the very same questions that are in this book, and I was eager to read Lucado's answers. I've been pleased with every Max Lucado book, and this one does not disappoint. I feel this book is a great addition to any Christian library, and it would make a good gift.

Gratefully, Susan

Disclosure of Material Connection: I received this book free from the publisher through the BookSneeze®.com http://BookSneeze.com book review bloggers program. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.

Closing a Chapter - Graduation Day with Tiny Prints

The Smith's have home-schooled their four children for many years and their oldest son graduated this month. I was invited to help organize the graduation ceremony for James, and his family. A home-schooled graduation ceremony was something new for me to plan, but it was easy enough to put together. The Smith's went all out with the theme, invitations, guest roster, activities, food, making a diploma, and getting James that robe and cap to wear. I feel the Smith's did most of the work, but I had fun helping. We designed a plan that mixed formal with carefree, and  I think that worked out just fine.

We certainly had a good time during and after the ceremony. The Smith family, and their friends all chimed in to tell stories about James' progress throughout the years. There were both smiles, and tears in the audience as James stood to accept his diploma. We had a very nice potluck dinner by the lake, and listened to music, the older kids danced, and the younger kids played games.

May is here, and students will say goodbye to the grade they just completed. It's graduation time, and It's time to celebrate your achievement. Tiny Prints is here to help. They have a nice assortment of products to choose from. I am really impressed by Tiny Prints. I like how I can personalize greeting cards and other products to suit my needs. I hope you will check them out.

Tiny Prints provides stylish, modern and unique graduation stationary including graduation announcements, graduation invitations, and thank you cards for teens. When graduation season has come and gone Tiny Prints will still be here to fill all your stationary needs with their exclusive designs from the nation's top designers. You'll find summer party invitations, personalized greeting cards, thank you cards, business cards, and even custom wedding invitations. Come try the easy card personalization, powerful preview engine and top-notch customer service and paper quality for yourself! With Tiny prints by your side commemorating every holiday and momentous occasion is a cinch!

Disclosure: I wrote this post while participating in Global Influence campaign on behalf of Tiny Prints. I will receive a gift card for taking the time to write this post. All opinions are my own.

Home-Ec 101 by Heather Solos

Home-Ec 101 - Skills For Everyday Living by Heather Solos

Chapter 20, Meal Planning is Not Just For Control Freaks.

I was given the opportunity to read this digital chapter from the new book. This chapter certainly held my attention, and I must say that I was delighted at how smart this book is, and how delightful the author is. I should have known that this book would reflect, and be just as good as the authors website. In this chapter, I found weekly meal planning advice, recipes, and tips.

This book is perfect for the young lady wanting to learn some good home ec skills, and for the seasoned ladies who want to polish up their skills. I am an avid reader and book collector, so I purchased this book. I found some new tips and recipes, and good advice. Clean It, Wash It, Fix It, and Cook It, are the four areas of home management you'll find inspiring information on.

This is one of those books that I keep returning to, really. That is my opinion and I'm sticking to it.

You can buy the book here:
Amazon
Barnes and Noble

You can visit Heather's website here: Home ec 101 - Skills for Everyday Living

Disclosure: I received a digital chapter of this book free from One2One Network for review purposes. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.

Storm Clouds Rolling In

The storms seem to be more frequent these days. It's hot one day, and cold the next. I wish it would just stay warm, and the weather would get stable.

Those tall plants in the foreground are Swamp Sunflowers. They have beautiful yellow blooms in early October. Those are huge Pines in the background. The Owls love to roost there, and we can hear them nightly.

From the Garden

Orange Daylily, Tawny Daylily, Ditch Lily (Hemerocallis fulva)

Some people can't stand this daylily, but I like it. It's pretty, and it reminds me of time spent at my grandmothers way back when. Nanny had them growing all over her backyard. My mom got a start of this plant back in the 60's, and here it is still thriving today.

Very hardy and prolific. Fragrant. Dormant. Great for naturalizing.

Ragu® Launches "Mom's the Word on Dinner" Program

Do you have regular dinnertime dilemmas? Those days where you just don't know what to fix that the whole family would enjoy. Something that is easy to prepare, and delicious. This is why Ragu® is launching "Mom's the Word on Dinner", an online community that brings moms together to laugh, learn and share their stories about what really happens at dinnertime. Parents can join the conversation by visiting Facebook.com/ragusauce.

Each month a group of mom bloggers from Momversation.com, as well as parenting expert and author, Dr. Michele Borba, and Registered Dietician, Dr. Felicia Stoler, will join moms across the country to talk about various dinnertime dilemmas. The topics discussed will range from how to deal with picky eaters, to getting kids to eat their vegetables to what dinnertime really means to you and your family.

Throughout the year, the Mom's the Word on Dinner community on Facebook.com/ragusauce will feature various videos, photos, polls, quizzes and dinner ideas with quick and easy recipes.  Parents can also share their story with America for a chance to be featured in a Ragu® advertisement in PEOPLE magazine this summer. To join the conversation and tell your story for a chance to be featured in a Ragu® advertisement in PEOPLE magazine visit Facebook.com/ragusauce.

With two full servings of vegetables in every half cup of Ragu® Old World Style® Traditional pasta sauce, Ragu® continues to help moms in their mission to feed their kids well.

My secret to a quick and tasty meal? It's Ragu®. My family loves Ragu®, and when I cook with Ragu®, they know a warm, home cooked meal is about to be served. Check out the Ragu® website at http://www.ragu.com to see a range of tasty recipes. My family loves the Ragu® Spaghetti Tacos. I add grated cheese or Parmesan cheese to the finished tacos. These are really good, and so easy to prepare. Kids love them!

"Disclosure: I was entered for a chance to win a Ragú® prize package in exchange for this post.  No monetary exchange took place." Thank you, MomSelect.

You can sign up for free, and no credit card is required. Each card is 99 cents each sent anywhere in the United States. The cost to send internationally is $1.98. Review Of CMT's New Sitcom "Working Class" Premiering 1/28/11

WORKING CLASS focuses on Carli Mitchell (Melissa Peterman), a single mom from a rough and tumble background, trying to give her kids a better life by moving them to an upscale suburb. She quickly finds that making the transition to “the good life” is harder than she thought! She's unwittingly befriended by her cranky neighbor, Hank (Ed Asner), her only “career” prospect is a glorified deli job at the local grocery store, and the man she falls for not only already has a girlfriend – but he’s also her boss, Rob (Patrick Fabian). With her ladies-man brother, Nick (Steve Kazee), to help her out (when he’s not acting like one of the kids himself), Carli faces the challenges of parenting, dating, and making friends in her new community by doing more with less, staying true to herself, and approaching each day with a touch of working class.

WORKING CLASS premieres January 28 at 8:00 p.m., ET/PT on CMT.

Premiere Episode: “The Buddy System”
Carli’s old flame from high school shows up hoping to re-ignite his “spark” with Carli — even if it means humiliating her in front of her new boss.

My review: This show is hilarious, and so is Melissa Peterman. Do you remember Melissa in Reba, as Barbara Jean? If you thought Melissa was funny in Reba - then you'll love Working Class!  I've also been a fan of Ed Asner for as long as I can remember, and he adds that special touch to this show that none other could do. I feel this show is going to be a keeper! You gotta see it, really. You can check out Working Class on CMT, and connect with Working Class on Facebook where you can watch a sneak peak of the show.

The complete cast includes:
• Melissa Peterman – “Carli Mitchell”
• Ed Asner – “Hank Greziak,” Carli’s neighbor.
• Steve Kazee – “Nick Garrett,” Carli’s brother.
• Patrick Fabian – “Rob Parker,” Carli’s boss and love interest.
• Lachlan Buchahan – “Scott Mitchell,” Carli’s eldest son.
• Courtney Merritt – “Pam Mitchell,” Carli’s daughter.
• Cameron Castaneda – “Will Mitchell,” Carli’s youngest son.
The show will also feature multiple guest stars throughout the season, including recently-announced Reba, whose on-screen reunion with Melissa Peterman will air in February. Additional guest stars include David Faustino (“Married with Children” and Not Another B Movie); Kathy Kinney (“The Drew Carey Show” and “The Secret Life of the American Teenager”); Martin Mull (“Roseanne” and “’Til Death”); John Schneider (“The Dukes of Hazzard”).

The One2One Network provided a free preview of the show for the purposes of this review. I received no monetary compensation, although I will be entered for a chance to win a CMT prize pack and gift card! The folks over at One2One are really sweet, and CMT is one of my favorite networks! The views expressed are my own.
